It’s that time of year, college kids are home for an entire month to enjoy time with family and relax after the stress of finals week.
This break has been exactly what I needed: food, family and more food.
This break we got to adventure around Birmingham, starting with a holiday favorite, a movie at The Alabama Theatre.
We went to go see the 1954 classic, White Christmas.
Since I had never been to The Alabama Theatre and had never seen White Christmas, it was a day full of firsts.
Every inch of the theatre was decorated for the holidays, accentuating the beautiful details of the theatre that was built in 1927.
The Alabama Theatre hosts a variety of events, next thing on my list is to see a concert in the theatre.
We then went to a new hip part of downtown Birmingham called Uptown.
We started the night at Cantina Laredo, an unique Mexican restaurant.
Their Ahi Tuna Tacos were absolutely delicious.
After dinner we walked across the complex to Octane Coffee Bar.
I’m a sucker for a hipster coffee shop, so Octane was perfect with all the natural wood and the lighting complete with Edison light bulbs.
Who doesn’t love a beautiful cup of coffee?
Then it was time for the reason for the season, Christmas!
My little sister and I have a tradition that we cook dinner for my mom and dad every Christmas Eve.
This year we had an Italian Christmas, making Rosemary Chicken wrapped in Prosciutto drizzled with Balsamic glaze and spaghetti squash.
Then a pair of matching Christmas Pjs later, we celebrated Jesus’s birthday by watching movies and spending quality time as a family!
Next, on the list of adventures this break, I got to attend the Poinsettia Ball to welcome one of my friends, Caroline to society!
There’s nothing better than getting all dressed up and dancing the night away with your friends!
This break isn’t over yet, next I will celebrate New Year’s Eve with friends, watch Auburn play in the Outback bowl, then go to Nashville to celebrate my best friend’s 21st birthday!
Then I will return back to Auburn to start spring semester, then go to Washington D.C. to attend March for Life.
It’s going to be a great semester for sure!
The most exciting part of the break is that I have officially applied for the summer 2015 CMT internship!!
Time for some prayers and fingers crossed that I get the opportunity to interview and hopefully intern with CMT in Nashville this summer!
I hope everyone has had the best holiday season and a great New Year!
